Meet Liz Your TMJ Massage Therapist.
Treatment provided by a Fully Qualified Dental Professional & TMJ Massage Therapist.
Therapy that works. Relief that lasts.
I'm here to ease the tension, clicking, and pain that Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMD) causes using an evidence based treatment modality. At LJH TMJ Massage Therapy, treatment is focused on evidence based techniques that deliver meaningful results. Specalised massage and myofascial release are applied to the muscles surrounding the TMJ, addressing the underlying causes of discomfort. This targated approach is designed to reduce pain, while improving jaw mobility and overall function. Treatment sessions are 60 minutes in duration, and include a comprehensive assessment, incorporating both a detailed history and clinical examination. This is followed by hands-on massage therapy targeting the muscles of mastication, as well as the muscles of the face, head, and neck. Intra oral (Inside your mouth) muscle work and myofascial release techniques are performed to address the underlying muscular contributors to TMD. Each session concludes with personalised home care guidance and targeted exercises tailored to your individual needs.

Founder & TMJ Massage Therapy Provider.
Liz Halsey
I  founded LJH TMJ Massage Therapy to bring personal, tailored relief for those suffering with Temporomandibular joint disorders (TMD). I have suffered with jaw pain and TMD myself for many years, therefore fully understand how dreadfully painful this condition can be. I’m a Dental Hygienist and Dental Therapist, I graduated from The Royal London Hospital, Queen Mary University in 1998. Over the course of my career, I have worked in a wide range of clinical settings, including as a staff hygienist at The Royal London Hospital alongside the oral and maxillofacial team, as well as in private practice on Harley Street and in general dental practice. Since 1999, I have been part of the team at the Benfleet Dental Centre, where I continue to work as a Dental Hygienist three days per week, focusing on delivering high-quality, patient-centred care with an emphasis on prevention and education. In addition to my clinical work, I hold a teaching qualification in Medical and Clinical Education and am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). I have been teaching Oral Health Sciences at the University of Essex for over 14 years, a role I am deeply passionate about as it allows me to support and mentor future dental professionals. I also work as a Clinical Educator at The Dental Studio in Colchester, overseeing Dental Hygiene students in a primary dental setting. I have a special interest in temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders and have undertaken further training and qualifications in the management and treatment of temporomandibular dysfunction (TMD), enabling me to provide specialised treatment and care in this area. I am delighted that I will be providing treatment at The Leigh Dental Centre, Benfleet Dental Centre and The Dental Studio in Colchester. Mobile services are also available on request.
